Young Socceroos getting wiser about playing Asia

Australia's Young Socceroos have returned from a successful trip to China after winning the Weifang Cup but with an angry blast for officials. Coach Steve O'Connor told au.fourfourtwo.com that it was a useful exercise particularly regarding dealing with Asian officials. "They give us nothing," he said. "We've seen it on this trip and we saw it at the Asian Cup and last year when the Young Socceroos played in India. I've told the boys we have to expect it and to work on strategies to deal with it." Other issues include playing in the heat of Kuala Lumpur in October that was made worse by the scheduling of game times."If there is a 4pm and 6pm kick-off, we'll get the earlier start. No one's going to do us any favours," he said. "A lot of people think that Asia is easy because we're Australia. They are wrong," said O'Connor. "Even countries like Vietnam are going to be difficult. This has been a good learning experience."
