China has begun the search for a new national team coach after itsdisappointing Asian Cup campaign. Zhu Guanghu, who presided over the national team's worst performance at the continental championship since 1980, is still in the post but an official told Soccer newspaper that his departure was only a matter of time. "We will first send a proposal on recruiting a new coach to the General Administration of Sport, wait for approval and send the resignation to Zhu," the unnamed Chinese Football Association official told the paper. Former France striker Jean-Pierre Papin, said last week that he had been approached, while Ratomir Dujkovic, who coaches China's Olympic team, said last month that he would like the chance to guide the senior squad through qualification for the 2010 World Cup after next year's Beijing Games. However a spokesman for the CFA told Reuters that the process had not started yet and would not begin until after the Asian Cup post-mortem was complete.
