K-League defending champions Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma will open their title defence at home against Korean FA Cup champions Chunnam Dragons on 3 March 2007. According to the K-League schedule for the 2007 season, the other 12 teams will move into action the next day with current Asian Champions League title holder Jeonbuk Motors taking on Gwangju Sangmu in their first game. The league takes a break from 23 June to 6 August for the AFC Asian Cup which runs from 7-29 July.
The domestic cup tournament is set to kick off on 14 March and the group stage, which will be played between two groups of teams, expected to culminate on 23 May. To avoid conflicting game dates, South Korea's two 2007 AFC Champions League teams, Seongnam and Chunnam, have automatic entry to Groups A and B respectively to the domestic cup playoff stage on 20 May and 20 June.
