Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma defeated Suwon Samsung Bluewings 2-1 in the second leg of their championship play-off to clinch the Korean League title. A goal in each half from their Brazilian import Mota ensured their seventh title-victory. Mota opened the scoring for Seongnam in the 26th minute and later doubled the advantage after the restart. Suwon’s Brazilian striker Da Silva pulled one back 14 minutes from time. Kim Doo-hyun’s corner from the right was helped in the direction of Mota by fellow Brazilian Itamar. The former Sporting Lisbon striker got in front of a Suwon defender and smartly volleyed the ball home to make it 1-0. Itamar’s cross deflected off a Suwon defender into the path of the unmarked Mota who simply slotted the ball past the Suwon custodian to double his side’s advantage. Da Silva reduced the deficit off a header on a Song Chong-guk cross.
