Thailand’s football players are worried they won’t have enough of their favourite chillis to fire up their team at the Asian Games, after their food shipment was seized by Qatari customs. Enough rice, chilli paste and fish sauce to fill two pick-up trucks was seized by customs officials who were afraid that the ingredients would make the players sick and cast the games in a bad light, team manager Tawatchai Sajjakul told the Thai Rath newspaper. They said food from Thailand could give our players diarrohea, which would cause problems for the officials here. The food was sent to feed Thai workers in Qatar instead,” Tawatchai said. “This could affect our team. If the players can’t eat, they will lose their strength,” he told the Thai-language paper quoted by AFP.
