China-based Lenovo, the world’s third largest PC manufacturer, announced that it is teaming up with football legend and FIFA Player of the Year for the second year running, Ronaldinho to auction 15 notebook PCs globally. The auction will begin on 1 December 2006 and continues for ten days in UK, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Israel, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, India, Thailand, Taiwan and Mexico.
"I'm delighted that we can support such a deserving charity such as UNICEF with the donation of Lenovo 3000 notebooks, in conjunction with Ronaldinho and FC Barcelona. Auctioning these products is a simple and effective way of raising a substantial amount for those who have little. Lenovo has a strong record of corporate philanthropy and this is another demonstration of our commitment to making a positive impact in our new world today," Neeraj Sharma, Managing Director, Lenovo South Asia said, as quoted by Money Control.
