Following its continuing policy on transparency the English Football League has released the latest figures on transfer spending and club expenditure on agent’s fees. According to the new report, quoted by Soccer Investor (13 July) spending on agents' fees among Football League clubs dropped by 2 percent in the year up to July 2006. In total, £7.66 million was spent on player representatives over the course of last season, a fall of £160,000 on the previous 12 months. Leeds United were the Football League's biggest spenders on agents with an outlay of £604,800, closely followed by Southampton with £575,000. Oxford United, who were relegated from the Football League in May, spent more on fees than any other club in League Two, paying £15,800.
