The Korean Football Association has announced Dick Advocaat as the replacement for Jo Bonfrere as coach of the South Korean national team."After being criticized for not supporting its last two coaches enough, the KFA has chosen a head coach who will not stand for anything other than getting what he wants," Ohmynews commented.
"Dick Advocaat is known as one of soccer's disciplinarians, someone who is used to doing it his way, on and off the training field. It certainly wouldn't be advisable for the KFA to give the two-time coach of the Netherlands a four-year-old tape of an opponent," said the news service.
The 57 year-old signed a one-year contract with the United Arab Emirates only two months ago, along with former assistant coach of South Korea, Pim Verbeek, but the pair will arrive 29 September the KFA earlier revealed.
According to KFA's media director, Yoo Young Cheol, Advocaat will lead the South Korean national team from 1 October and his contract will run until the end of next year's World Cup final. There is an option to extend it if both parties agree.
