The All India Football Federation today decided to appoint a new coach for the national team and to select a a foreign technical director. "The much debated issue of the performance of our U-23 team in Pakistan and Fiji dissapointed us. It was most unfortunate and we probed in depth," AIFF President Priya Ranjan Das Munshi told reporters.
Current coach Sukhwinder Singh 'has been asked to appear before Mr Munshi and an expert panel on 15 September to "present his future plans for the team". Other candidates, who have to apply by 17 September will be screened and three will be interviewed. If the panel "does not find anyone more eligible", Singh "will continue as the coach," AIFF VP, Subrata Datta, said.
